only the shadow knows.....
I've got 6 baby keets I got off someone yesterday out in Lexington, NC. They were lively and healthy yesterday. Were making all kinds of noises earlier today.

Now, 3 are dead and the other 3 I'm trying to give water to with an eye dropper. They wont eat they wont drink.

I don't know whatelse to do

HELP!!!

With baby chickens, adding a little sugar to the water (& possibly a little vitamin & electrolytes powder without minerals) can help them have energy to recuperate after stress. Don't know if this would be good or helpful for keets...

I'm so sorry that your babies aren't doing well. Were the ones who died exhibiting any symptoms? If not and if you think it's just stress, the sugar water or water with electrolytes is good - and maybe add a few drops of Rescue Remedy or Five Flower Remedy if you have any. Hope they make a quick recovery.

Sorry to say, they are all gone. I don't know what happen.

When I brought them home, they all huddled together like they were cold or afraid. It was nice and toasty in the brooder and they had plenty of room to move if they got too warm. They just wouldn't eat or drink anything.

Did you clean with a strong cleaner of some kind this morning? Use any kind of toxic substance in your duties this morning? I know that things like that will kill small birds fast.
Were they drinking and eating yesterday? Did you dip thier beaks in and show them where the water was? Just thinking...we all make booboos the first time around

I only use vinegar and water to clean anything my birds use. I dipped their beaks, a couple of times, they just wouldn't drink. Dunno what it could be. I've only lost 1 chick out of the 50 or so I have raised. just dunno

I'm very sorry. I tried to raise a couple of chicks once and had a similar thing happen. The only luck I had was introducing the next hatch to a broody bantam. She raised all the keets to adulthood.

Had these keets been with a guinea mother? I caught some of my guineas keets once since I wanted to make sure some of them survived and my adult population was getting low. I could not get those little guys to eat or drink no matter what I did. I finally took them back outside and returned them to their mother.

I should add these were less than a day old when I caught them. She had a nest under a rose bush in my garden so I was able to watch for them to hatch.

These keets were a little over a week old. They had started feathering out. The guy I bought them from had them in with some chicks and poults about the same age. Some bigger, some smaller. I'm wondering now if I should have gotten some chicks too. Everyone seemed very healthy. He had birds of all different sizes, ages and types in different brooders around the room. Maybe they just needed the chaos of all those birds to make it.
