Oh lord, sounds like my family with the bird flu. I swear they went around like chicken little saying the sky is falling! My sister was freaking out (and she is a 47 yr old RN) about me having chickens and my kids are going to get it and everyone is going to DIE!!!

Swine flu did cause a "forgotten" epidemic in like the early 1900's...but we've had worse. As long as we are containing, etc., I'm not going to lose my pants over it.
Besides, half the people in the world are going to tell you that chickens will give you deadly diseases and you will die with a few months of owning them. Not so. Some people even say that they cause your retinas to melt...also not true.
