I train the horses the same way...Like with biting - they want to bite me, they will get their nose pinched. Same concept..
Honestly, I go beyond reasonable if my animal's lives are potentially at stake. I don't take that. It is well worth finding a way to make him give it a rest and potentially getting a beating for it! Given, that what you do isn't too harmful to the trouble maker.
