Today went to the tractor supply store..to get feed

And swore off incubating anymore chicks till next year..now I have walked in and out several times never even looked in the bins..as I have been so busy incubating and raising my own chicks

Then I don't know what came over me..

Yep..you know it ...

Looked in and saw a sign that said, tetra tint pullets..so thought what the heck let me grab one..
Looked in the bantam bin..packed with bantams..see in the corner cause I don't have a clue what all those assorted bantam chicks are..but see one..and only one out of a gin full of chicks..with that itty bitty high head poof thing...and think..yep gotta be a silkie..oh what the heck..grab that one..

Okay , thinking to myself..go..quick..run..no don't do it..no..no..don't look in the other bin..go..go..dang nap it Satan all up and in me...I do it... I look in the bin that has that big bold ..red sex link pullet sign

So I grab two
Quick..run..run..

Then I hear you have to purchase 6
Iam like 6.. Shoot I don't have room for 1 more and you people hqve the nerve to tell me 6..wtfreak

Find a lady who she herself only wanted two

I said look..gimme your 5 bucks and I'll go up and pay for yours too..ahhaha..tractor supply...their..I bough 6.. And then gave her back her two

My question is..what the heck are tetra tints..the whole dag on bin..they were all like a creamy whiteish yellowy with black little spots here and their on them?
What the heck is red sex linked? The bin said..nh, ri,red production
So how do I know which two are what..one is darker reddish apricot color with light stripes..really light with dark colors coming in on their feathers on their wing tips..just two rows..the other one is reddish with white feathers coming it's tip of wings..two rows..

Any guesses?
And smack me down...cause I already did the head thug thing..I needed more chicks like the man on the moon..heheheh
All my chicks I've for the most part incubated myself and or got two from a breeder..

Guess now I can truly compare hatchery silkie to a top breeders silkie...hehehe
But again what the heck is a tetra and what are the two reddish ones?

Oh and of course the vin said pullets but we know how wrong they can be too...
Winkity wink

The tetra tints come from Mt Healthy Hatchury. They are a cross between a white leghorn and something else. Bread for a thinner bird great foraging and laying a great egg. The red pullets are Rhode Island Reds, New Hampsire Reds and production reds. Sex links are crosses. They are all great egg layers

Chicken Addiction strikes again! Congrats on the new chicks!

The tetra tint breed was developed in Hungary. It is the very last chicken on the bottom of this page:

Red sex links are a production hybrid, usually using a RIR or a leghorn as one of the parents to make a heavily producing brown egg layer. They are a red & a white breed cross, and are egg making machines, but seldom produce too much beyond 2 years old.
They are very friendly birds. I have 5 two year olds.

sunny & the 5 egg layers :
