That happened to me last Tuesday. Thank goodness chick days are over! I had 4 more on order from the livestock store and came home with 3, courtesy of splitting the 6 with a gal who worked there.
Now if we can only figure out what breed the one chickie is..... hmmmmmm. I also saw two buff silkies, because when they did the whole 'ole-rancher-head-hanging-sexing- thing the legs dropped and I know I'd have to get rid of roos, and didn't want to take a chance (although our mystery chick was straight run, but she kept moving her legs). No idea if that actually works more than 50% of the time, but it allowed me to come home with another chick and a mostly clean conscience.
Fwiw, our TSC uses Privetts, because it closest. And the chicks are glorious!!!
May have to add on to chicken digs, because I think I have too many now for what we planned.
My best friend has 3 red sex-links and they are the funniest birds in her whole flock. They have the craziest personalities. One of them will climb in her dog's dish outside and taunt the poor dog through the window. The dish is obviously empty but it irks the dog to no end that a bird is in it. Also, the red sex-links she has often get out and go eating in the front yard. It's almost never any other bird. Just her reds. They have been really hardy too. 2 of them have been attacked by dogs and both have completely pulled through and are perfectly fine. They are all really good layers too. I love her reds. They make me smile. Sookie will come to the door and peck on the glass for a treat. We always say "Sookie want a cookie!"
I never got any from TSC, but i bought the chick n coop and nest box from there. i always missed the baby chick days and couldn't have bought 6 anyway.. Not enough room... I got my three little girls (gold laced wyandottes) from a local feed store (after I promised my husband I wouldn't
.... I knew better than to ask him to build a coop and run after I'd gotten them so I bought the ready-made, which isn't ideal, but easier and more affordable than the big pretty ones. I haven't put my girls out there yet.. they are only @ 3-4 wks old.. i have plans to modify the structure to give them the most room.

It was out in Marshall..but I can say this..the next day one was dead. Not sure if they were even marked right..I took my chance though
And this was the first time ever I didn't incubate the eggs and or get from a very reputable breeder
A lot had some serious pasty butt too, it was sad
Iam not sure I will do this again..but all my chicks are not in the house anymore, and I wouldn't have done this if it weren't for that...

Iam so hoping they are full of personality...like your describing. Right now all three are about the most skittish chicks I would have to say I have ever had..not good..not good..but I wanted some really good egg layers that was my ultimate goal
