DH just got put in charge of some stuff down there again, so he will be traveling. maybe i better go with him, you know, just to 'help'.

it is cold here too.. not THAT cold but it is almost to the point where I might have to turn on the heat..

you see.. I havent had to turn on the heat yet..

the house warms up from the sun to about 80 then it cools to 70.. the worst had been 69..

this morning the house was at a wopping 67 degrees.. I am in a sweater already.. and it is only going to get colder..

I might go ahead and set the thermostat at 66 or 65 so that it wont make the kids THAT cold... LOL

It is 8' here with a wind chill of -1` going way down tonight. But we have the chickens in lock-down with 60 wt bulbs in the coop to keep the water from freezing and to ward off frostbite. The lights will be on only for this two - three day duration of this current freeze. They have a head of cabbage in there with the feeder filled and some scratch scattered (so they will fluff up their own litter)

Now we can't complain when listening to the national weather as there are folks out there who much worse off than we are so our prayers are with everyone.

I've decided I'm moving to Key West. It's warm there and they have chickens.

It's gonna be 6* tonight, that's pretty low for around here. Not unusual, but you have to prepare yourself. I just got a heat bulb for the coop, I have 3 chickens in a coop that could house 8 or 10 comfortably. So I'm concerned for their safety.

Well, I just checked and the temp outside is 15* and inside the coop is 30* But tomorrow is gonna be windy and single digits. I won't be home during the day, I hope the chooks will be fine, I guess I should leave the light on....

It is a whole whopping 2 degrees right now where I live in southeast Ky. They say -2 tonight but I believe it will be colder than that and the wind is blowing so weatherman said -15 to -20 wind chill tonight. I am ready for spring. If we aren't getting flooded we are freezing . this is really the coldest its been all winter. we really haven't had much snow this year . it hasn't been cold enough for it to snow much.

It's -15 here in upstate NY but,at least the wind is calm.They say spring is coming but,I'm beginning to wonder.I can't believe some of the low temps even in the south.Stay warm and pray for spring to get here.
