Hello fellow BYC'ers. Don here, an old guy who just can't seem to slow down and take life easy. Always have to be doing something. After my retirement, I started driving for a hot shot service? I'll be 70 in August, so maybe I'll re-retire then. My small back yard looks like a mini farm. About a third of it is in garden, I have a small Koi pond, and now the chickens.

As a kid, we had chickens and I have always wanted some as an adult. Well, I finally jumped off and did it. I built my coop and pen, then I got six pullets from two sources. Three of them were 3 month old Production Reds and the other three were six weeks old; one Barred Rock, one Black Australorp and a runt Silver Laced Wyandotte (she was free, but she is one spunky little chicken).

I've had them about a month now and all is well. Hoping the three Reds start laying in another month or two. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with everyone.

Gotta go tend the chickens.
Don

Sounds like you're keeping busy and having fun...and that's what is important.

Enjoy your flock!
