Boyd, have you ever had a sleep study done? After years of self-diagnosis of migraines & self-medicating (nothing worked), I had one for a solid week, gave in & went to the doctor. Referred me to a neurologist, who in turn did the sleep study. Found out that I have restless leg syndrome which sucks the quality out of the sleep I was getting. Although it took months to get the right combination of medications, he finally did & I havent had one migraine due to not getting quality sleep. I was tossing & turning an average of 40 times PER HOUR & even though I slept soundly & THOUGHT I was getting enough sleep, it wasn't GOOD sleep. Now, the only migraines I get are brought on what I've figured out to be my personal triggers--flourescent lighting, too much chocolate, too much sodium, too much stress. And contrary to popular belief, caffiene helps get rid of a migraine. Imitrex made them worse before it made them better, maxalt worked great but insurance wouldn't pay for it (?!). I cant remember what they have me on now, only because I dont have to take it very often, but it doesn't seem to work any more than the imitrex. I just try to avoid my known triggers & hope for the best when I cant...good luck with yours.
