Oh. My. God. omg. OMG! Cockroach!

I live up in the northern part of NY near Canada also. The only roaches I've seen were either wood roaches or the Madagascar hissing cockroaches at the pet stores. The wood roaches I've only seen maybe once or twice a year. Scary to see one but I know they don't live in the house which makes me feel better.

When I lived in IL I usually only seen wood roaches also. Had one flying at me one night and it scared me to death and then the second one was on the ledge inside my fish tank. The tank sat up high so it took me a while to notice it with my arm near the thing. It had an egg sack which dropped into the tank that the fish decided to feast upon. Definitely gross but I had my dad kill it and I always checked that edge before feeding the fish.

I wonder if Florida's Palmetto bugs are the same as your wood roaches? These dark brown winged insects are about 2 inches in size and love to land on anyone's face. I remember as a kid living in Florida having to use Tupperware containers to store edibles in to keep roaches at bay. Even food stored in the Fridge had to be protected.

Squishy- My heart was racing just reading your post! I know exactly what that kind of panic and fear feels like. I hate those horrendous, filthy bugs! They scare the crap out of me!

Terrible mother that I am, I once knocked my toddler over when I opened a cabinet and saw a roach...my baby girl was in my escape route and I totally plowed her down trying to put distance between me and the stupid bug! A good mother would have saved the kid, too!

Whenever I lived in Sherman, Tx one of my good friends there had 4 sisters ( 4 to 16) and a mom that used to be a drug addict and their house was covered with 'em! The worst part was whenever I poured some cereal and 2 roaches came out into my bowl! I'm not that afraid of bugs, but whenever you barely bump the wall and 15 crawl out from behind the painting, you pour some cereal and some come out, You wake up to one on your leg, and You can't even feed your cat due to the roaches getting it first!? I just can't take it! It's sad because they've tried for Years to get rid of them, but it always fails! It's just a filthy living environment too. I feel so bad for them. It sad too because they have pretty much learned to " live " with the roaches! I pray for her and her family everyday hoping they're not on the streets!

That is just so sad! I have seen living situations like this before as well. I will pray for this family right now too!
