Oh My Goodness... I'm a bad Mommy....

For some reason, when I was a toddler I would swallow marbles and ball bearings. Ate so many that I had my own special pot to poo in til they came out.

Unless allergic to copper and zinc, all should be fine.

Some kids will do anything for "special treatment". I never had my own pot. I'm jealous! If only I'd eaten some coins...

Parenting is a lifetime of wishing you'd known more ahead of time.
I just roll with it.

I have heard that cows eat a lot of metal bits (in hay or feed or grass) and so farmers sometimes feed them a magnet, just so the metal stays in one spot rather than traveling around their stomachs. Don't know how much this is true vs. folklore. I'm not recommending you do this (in fact you shouldn't) but I just thought it was interesting.

Thank you alll so much. This child has given me a run for my money on more than one occasion but never with eating things. We were just at the ER with this same one about 2 months ago when she jumped onto Dad while he was in bed, went over him, and landed on her head on the wide pine floor. She gave herself a concussion, was vomiting everywhere and nodding off to sleep constantly on the way to the ER. I was a nervous wreck and the ER staff didn't help, they asked us 500 million questions and even seperated my husband, my 8 year old son (who was in the room watching TV) and myself to make sure all of our stories matched up right, as if we weren't stressed enough. She ended up fine obviously, they kept her for 6 hours, when she got there she was nearly unresponsive and when we left she was gobbling down popsicles and talking a mile a minute, she basically needed a long nap and some fluids. It was SCARY though...
Other than that, my oldest put his teeth through his bottom lip once when he tried to fly off the top of his bureau like spiderman and we thought for sure he would need stitches but they didn't put any in because apparently mouth wounds heal fast (and it did!) and my middle daughter had a window shut on her finger and broke the tip of the finger... So, not alot of injuries and stuff in my 8 years of parenting.

I <3 you guys.

my oldest, after a month of smelling death whenever she was around, and taking to 3 different doctors , her ped, the er doc and an ear nose throat doc. We finally found part of a sponge up her nose.
Her reasoning? SHe was laying on her bed with her head hanging down, and the cat ran by an shoved the sponge up there, and she didn't want the cat to get in trouble, so she didn't tell us it was there.

We kept the sponge in an old spice jar. If you ask her if she will put anything up her nose again, the answer is always NO WAY!

Watch batteries have a corrosion issue, and magnets if more than one is swallowed will damage intestines or actually block and tear them. Coins pass, marbles pass,, be glad it wasn't cat poo,, that is what Steven decided looked tasty once, because the darn dog grabbed a "kitty snack".

lol ewww...
I had almost forgotten about my youngest's version of an ooppsie...
She was supposed to be taking a nap... All of a sudden, screams of murder hit my ears.. go in the room, she's sitting on the bed saying, "i was trying to do a magic trick, and it went up too far!"
Come to find out, she had found a little rock and shoved it up her nose. A giant blow later, TA DA!!! It magically reappeared.
