Oh, it's absolutely true! It's to keep it all in the second part of the cow's stomach any metal a cow swallows in their eager desire for food doesn't get caught in the folds of the stomach further on... it gets smaller further on and that's where punctures etc would more likely happen.

[edit] GOOD IDEA! WARNING!!! for COWS ONLY!! Ya gotta have the 4 compartments in your stomach for it to work!!!

I am not a mother, but I I thought this was hilarious! My brother put a pea up his nose when he was little, I don't know what my parents did but he is still alive today with little brain damage

We had my two nephews living with us when I was a teenager. One day, one of them kept climbing this 2 foot ladder. I told him I don't even know how many times to stop it or he would get hurt. He didn't listen, so sure enough I hear a thump and he had fallen

He never climbed it agian. You have to keep kids safe, but there are times they just need to learn it on there own. Now if it had been a tall ladder, I would have been more watchful. I am not a child abuser =/

My uncle is an ER doctor. One day, a little boy was brought into the ER by his dad with a micro machine stuck up his nose. After about an hour, they finally got it out.

The doctor handed the car to the dad and the dad looked at it for a minute and asked the doctor how in the heck it had fit up the little boy's nose.

Later that day, the same dad was back. This time with the micro machine stuck up HIS nose.

I think the best part of being a parent, isnt to have healthy happy kids.. It's having some socially unacceptable stories that go with the healthy, happy, well adjusted kids.

Not to freak you out, but pennies made after 1983 can be toxic
(due to being made with different metals), at least in dogs. I don't work with people, so I don't know if 1 would affect a 3-yr-old, but just wanted to let you know.

Didnt anyone here ever see Grumpier old Men??? When the kid eats a quarter and Burgess Meredeth as Pop says "theres nothing to worry about unless he sh*ts out 2 dimes and a nickel"

I couldnt resist.

My mom swallowed a nail when she was a child. The doctor told my grandparents to feed her raw potatoes, as the starch would coat the nail and keep it from puncturing anything on its way through.

She's 67 now and has never suffered any ill effects.

My daughter swallowed a pink-painted metal barrette. When it came through in her diaper, it was shiny silver... it's amazing what our bodies can handle!

My little sis did this with a bandaid. Mom couldn't figure out why she smelled like something dead and rotten, until one day she blew her nose...

I don't think she had the creative story to go with it. Your daughter's definitely creative!

Oh my gosh the stories you guys have!

Well as of last night she now has her own Lucky Penny! It was found in her diaper

Thank goodness it came out LOL

I was so worried. It's funny how a usually level headed woman can go absolutely nutty when it comes to the possibility of her baby being hurt. When my husband came home and before I even said Hello I blurted out "Woogie ate a penny!"he simply laughed and said "yeah and? I ate a penny when I was a kid and it came out..."

And yes we call our child Woogie. It's not her real name, just a nickname I gave her when she was 2 weeks old that stuck and it's all she answers to now. You can ask her if her name is ______ and she gets mad and says "NO, Woogie!"

Certain family members hate it and think I'm ruining my kid but my Dad still calls me Boo and Boomer and I'm 24! I think it's cute.
