Oh My Gosh I Broke Down And Bought It

Personally, I like the feel of a book in my hand and the smell of the pages. Those devices take all that away, so why spend $100 on one??

What debiraymond said!
I have four large bookcases full of books and some shelves are double stacked. Also, have books stored in cartons. I'm a hoarder of books. I LOVE books; have since I first learned to read, "See Spot. See Spot run." (For all who aren't ancient like me, that was in our first grade reader. We didn't even have kindergarten back then. Now my DGS in pre-k is learning to read!)
Have a friend who keeps asking me when I'm getting a kindle. I just can't get my brain ready for reading my books on a small screen!

Good for you! I've been enjoying mine and plan on taking it with me on our cruise in April. Check out the free ebooks at B&N. You can download them onto your computer, then put them into your Nook. I didn't think to do that, am making up for lost time though

I, too, love the heft and smell of books. It's hard to take them with me on vacation because I read so fast and they take up soooo much room. The nook is much more convenient and saves me room. If I run out of things to read, with the push of a screen prompt I can get another within seconds. I can carry over a thousand books with me at a time. How cool is that??

Awesome!
I am a avid reader as well. I take books everywhere with me, would be nice not to have to lug them around, but I would probably just find something else I needed to carry to fill up the space saved by buying the electronic versions.

I like the fact that you don't have to go anywhere to get a new book - instant download!

And that the font comes in different sizes for my old failing eyes, so I can read without granny glasses!

Oh and Deb, they're $259.

I love to read too,but in my old age, my eyes bother me. This sounds like something i could really use. Never heard of them before. Love the part about the large PRINT. Could i get "War and Peace" by Tolstoy on there in large print??? Anybody?? Besides paying for the machine, do you have to pay to get the books too??? If so, how much is that.

I have gone back and forth on these things. I would love to have one when I travel, instead of lugging multiple books around. But at this point they don't have maps or pics, so I think I am going to wait until the techology catches up.

And even then, I will still probably hit my library weekly. I love the idea of saving paper, but I am with you,Debi; I like the feel and smell of a book. I love the sound of pages turning. I even volunteer at the library repairing books (very zen!).

Eggzactly how I feel about it, too. I might get one someday just for the geek factor, but I'll always read good ole regular paper books. The travel thing is a good thought, I'd probably use it for specific purposes like that.

slywoody, some of the classics are free and no book is over $10 and all the content is complete, so whatever is in the book comes to the nook! If you go to Barnes and Noble.com you can click on the ebooks tab and see all they have!

If you have a B & N near you, they have a demo model that you can hold and try out! Can you tell I'm excited about this! LOL

Oh and I forgot to tell you, the nook changes the size of the font to ANY book so you can read anything in the size that's good for you!
