OH MY GOSH! I think I could rip a phone book in half!

Knowing what you know about your lungs, you can quit them, however you need to do it, do it.
I watched 2 Uncles die from Lung Cancer, it is not a good way to go.
My oldest Uncle laid his down the day he was diagnosed, he died 4 months later.
Not trying to be morbid, but I have seen it first hand.

Somewhere there was a study done about the minute you quit you start adding years to your life. Think about the positives, you can do this.

You CAN do it! I quit 5 years ago cold turkey...hubby quit 2 years before I did...same way. Its hard, yes..but sooo worth it!

Did you know that 5 years after you quit smoking your lungs have repaired themselves to a point of being a "never smoker?"

GO GO GO! No excuses - just do it - you must for your health and that of your kids.

My dad died of lung cancer 30 Aug 2008 - he was diagnosed suddenly on 5 July 2008 - and he was gone that fast. It had spread thru his entire body - all organs, bones and brain. I can tell you now - watching my father die was the worst and hardest thing I have ever and will ever experience in my entire lifetime. Please quit...do it for yourself and your kids.

Quit now.... its a habit - and habits can be broken!

I have had one cigarette today.

I have thought about having one almost continually for 13 hours though.

Normally, I would have smoked somewhere around 20-30 cigarettes by now.

So, I am doing good at cutting down. I have however, eaten about 90 sugar-free mints. I am about to go out and buy some more. Its cold, my husband said: You have got to be crazy- you are going out in this weather for mints?
I said, "If I was out of cigarettes two days ago, I would for certain have been going. Whats the difference?"

Consider the nicoteine gum. You can go get it now and never
have a cig again. I quit using it. It relieves those cravings you
are having now. I feel your pain just reading this thread.

As you can see, we are all rooting for you.

It's going to be hard, it's going to suck, and being crabby is par for the course. But you'll be so glad you did it.

Smoking is an addiction. Don't be afraid to ask for the help you need to get past this: gum, patches, exercise, counseling, baseball bats to watermelons, etc.

Remember: the people who tend to be the most insufferable to smokers are the former smokers. They'll tell you how much it stinks, how they smell the world now, how food tastes, how easy/hard it was. Don't you want to join that exclusive club?!?

Have you considered using a patch? They really work. You are doing great! It's hard, but you CAN do it! Go easy on sugar free candy. They are usually made with sorbitol which can have a "loosening" effect on your bowels. But, better than smoke in your lungs I guess.

When you are smoke free, you will consider it one of your proudest accomplishments. I quit several years ago. It was tough, but every day got easier. Now it's not even a possibility to start again. Use anything that will help and keep yourself distracted. Good Luck!
