Oh no!
My hen was attcaked & left for dead, she was bleeding in 3 places. I cleaned the wounds, yes she let me know it hurt but she still had her eyes shut, she was cold & full of dirt too. I put the stop bleeding gel on her wounds & then when the bleeding stopped I put on neosporin. You can use flour too.
I gave her terramycin & electrolytes in the water, using an eye dropper to keep her hydrated. I cooked up oatmeal & gave her that too on my finger. Her eyes were still shut. I had her wrapped in towels & under heat lamps. She laid like that for a few days, & when she was able to get up, she acted like a person that had a stroke. It did something to her equalibrium I think. Her beak didn't work very well for a couple of weeks & I had to help her eat things. Yogurt is good too, strawberry they really like. It has been 6 weeks now & she is 100%....so my point is, there is hope.
I am sorry for you & the chickies. Just take care of them & if they are are fighters, they will get over it. Shock plays a big factor in it too. Keep letting them know you are there, I think that helped my Hazel, just hearing my voice, since she wouldn't open her eyes.
Please keep us posted....especially me...
Good luck!
