Ok, so for about the last week or so, Soupie, my new BR pullet has been having diarrhea. I assumed it was maybe a change in food (I bought her off another BYC'er who was feeding something different I'm sure) She's still acting normal, in fact she even layed her first egg today!!!

The only thing I found on the poo chart about runny poo is that it could be caused from the hen getting too hot and dringking excess water- but 20*-30* is not hot

I'm so confused...

Did you check out this link? http://happyhenhouse.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=poop&action=display&thread=7588

There
is a similar poo picture posted and above it it reads.....

This bird has only white urates being passed
It could be
1. Toxoplasmosis
2. Infectious Bursal Diseaase
3. Lymphoid Leukosis
4. Something not listed here

You should seek an avian vet to treat the bird

Sorry. Other than that I can't help. I guess it's a good sign that she is acting normal and laying though.

Thanks for the reply. I can't get her to an avian vet, simply because there isn't one around here. And, I probably couldn't afford it. I'm going to
fl.gif
that it falls into category #4- Not that serious.

That's probably the option I would take. Especially since she shows no other signs and is acting normal. I hope it is nothing serious!

Are you keeping her separated from your flock for about a month just to be sure everything is okay? It could be the change in diet. Is she inside, free ranging, how different is her environment now than before? Any or all of these could have an effect.
I agree if she's acting like a normal chicken (whatever that is) I would not be too concerned, just keep an eye on her. And enjoy your new girl.

No. I know that if this is something contageous and incureable I have quite literally placed a death sentance on the rest of my birds. I knew better. I'm not here looking for sympathy for me simply being an idiot, I was just wanting advice. This is no one's fault but my own.

I will
fl.gif
that it is just a change in diet. Thank you to those who have replied
