My silkie hen I have been so worried about that laid 3 soft shell eggs and just seemed to be acting wimpy. I brought her to the vet and he checked her stool and gave antibiotics for her (she seemed to have a few white blood cells where they don't belong) Now that she is done with her antibiotics and been separated for over a week I go outside and there is feathers everywhere like snow! So the problem is officially solved ... she is molting. She is the only chicken I have over a year old so I wasn't thinking molt but I could stuff a pillow with the feathers she has shed already!

Here's hoping it's a quick molt for her. Be sure and give her lots of high protein snacks to help.

I fixed mine scrambled eggs and then a little bit of cat food for a couple of weeks to boost the protein, seems to have worked well.
