I was so proud of myself. Got a nice wire cage all set up with a heat lamp and some newspaper with new feeder and waterer for my coming baby chicks. It's hanging on the barn wall for easy access. The daily weather has been warm.

However.... the nightly temps drop around 30. I'm now worried that the fluxuation will be too much for the little guys. *sigh*

Guess who's moving the cage into the house today. LOL
 
I don't use a cage but provide a warm area with heat lamps and a cool space and let them find their comfort zone. I know close to the lamps is about 100 or so and far away it's 50 or less. It is closer to nature. A broody hen doesn't make the ambient temperature warm, it's just warm under her.
