This chick is MY very first egg hatched from my very own chickens! [IMG] 3 weeks old Saturday. VERY spunky. An escape artist already. I think Hudini is the right name for now.

I think he/she is adorable and am still waiting to see what it turns into. Meanwhile it is a cross between a black Araucana roo over either my white or black my pure silkie hens.
It hatched out black as the Ace of Spades and continues to feather out black so far.....with 5 toes and black skin....no crest/top knot.....lightly feathered shanks but not the lower legs or feet.....black eyes, normal feathering and LOOOONG long legs.
More interesting to me is that it appears to be Rumpless? [IMG]
All you Araucana experts let me know if so.[IMG]
This is going to be fun watching her grow up. Hope it's a she anyways. I think she might be a NYC Rockett if those legs keep getting any longer. [IMG]

If your roo is rumpless, or I guess even have a rumpless gene, then yes, the baby could be rumpless. Just watch for little tail feathers. If it is rumpless, they won't grow in. If it grows a few, it will be partial rumpless.

When I Google Imaged Araucanas yesterday to check on them for my cousin there were many photos of "rumpless" Araucanas. It was kind of confusing because I didn't know if the standard was rumpless or not. I didn't follow up to see for sure, but the photos were interesting and you may find them interesting.
