OHHH I'm so mad right now..

Wow, I just don't get these laws that make it illegal to contain someones animal. If a stray animal is on my property and is doing damage I am not going to stand by and watch.

In the scheme of things at this point, him complaining about your rooster won't get him far. You're not taking into account a very LARGE point- these dogs killed another person's *50* chickens. This isn't about loose dogs coming onto property anymore, this is about dogs that have a history of drastic chicken-clearing & is trying to do so again, while said owner refuses to deal with the problem. It doesn't matter at this point who calls whoever, his bill to the other neighbor for the 50 chickens should be enough to shut him up!

I would personally encourage the other neighbor to call animal control or the police about the loss of his flock, whether he wants reimbursement or not, it should be reported for when you guys do call & try to get something done (because I'll bet, with all the dog owner's 'concern' about his running dogs, they'll be back shortly).

Also, about the electric fence, they don't electrocute people, or kids. It's a sharp little zap if they touch it & I can tell you, they won't likely touch it ever again. It certainly won't "hurt" them other than a startle. I would surely not hesitate to put up electric fencing around kids- & I've got some of my own!

I don't understand them either. All I know is what they told me and threatened to do with me. So my husband and I decided if there are ever someone else's dogs on our property and harrassing our animals we will just shoot first and ask questions later. And if it gets off our property before it dies I will hunt it down and drag it back. My dogs NEVER leave my property ( they are fenced ) and I will not put up with someone else's dogs hurting my animals.

welcome aboard BYC and i vote to destroy his dogs if they routinly make thier way to your property to harras your animals. its not right. Or even a c02 pellet gun will give them the messege, and they could die at his house from lead poisening! be sure to get lead pellets. and shove 3 or 4 in the barrel so he has an even better chance of kicking the bucket.

A can of pepper spray works well too. That stuff will drive the dogs off and the owners will have to deal with cleaning up the dogs faces! Most dogs don't want another dose of hot pepper in their eyes.

The nephew said you stole his dog, so from the cops point of view, that is a crime....theft. If you had captured the dog and called in to report the dog had killed your livestock and were holding it to be picked up by animal control, it probably wouldn't be illegal.

In my state, livestock can make whatever noise they make and nothing can be done unless a local ordinance/zoning makes it illegal to have those animals in the first place. My neighbors have complained about my goats blatting, my roosters crowing, the Guineas making their racket and the horses neighing. Nothing can be done, they are there leagally. Even the livestock guardian dogs are allowed to bark and are exempt from the barking dog laws.

No need to get mad.Just kill the dogs. The dogs have killed a lot of livestock already, and the owner don't care. You really think he will care if YOU complain. No way.Protect your flock and kill them.

You need to SSS and stop talking to anyone about it.Make the issue disappear.Even if the dog got taken or killed the owner will suspect you regardless of you having to do anything with it.It is at that point now.

You probably have a NFH situaiton brewing as well.

So SSS and move on.Sure they will get new dogs, but those dogs will only be an issue if they attack your animals. If they do you know how to deal with them. After all they are just predators not a family pet when they are killing your animals on your property.Keep that in mind when you debate what to do.

Another incident that happened years ago was my neighbor down the road from me had a flock of about 50 chickens free ranging on his property and I had a few chickens, a few turkeys , and some Peacocks and Peahens free ranging on my property and the neighbor down the road from me on the other side had 2 big dogs they never kept contained. These 2 dogs wiped out the neighbors flock of about 50 chickens then came here and started with my birds. They would kill the birds and take them to another neighbors property who had a gravel pit. They wouldn't eat them they would just kill them and take them to the gravel pit and leave them and go get more. Dogs were smart too. My neighbor tried to shoot them and run them over in the road with his truck but the dogs would outsmart him. When they started on my birds I would call animal control. Animal control would come out and go to where they lived then come back every time and tell me " Oh nobody was home and the dogs are there so there isn't anything I can do. " They left several messages for the owners to tie their dogs up. About 5 times of this story I was sick of it by now so I called them one last time when the dogs were after one of my turkeys and I told animal control this is the last call I will make to you. If you don't come and get the dogs I will go to their house and shoot the dogs then I will shoot the owner. It didn't take them very long to get out here that time and pick up the dogs and even brought them down to me to show me they had them. As much as I love animals , and I do love them, I will
Not tolerate someone else's animals hurting mine.

Havent seen hide or hair of the dogs
