Ohiki Chicken Thread

Pics
pretty sure all the barred ohiki in the US  are from Toni-Maries original flytie crosses. Pretty sure that's how she got the barring in all of them. So in short, if it's barred it has some degree of flytie in it, though the genes controling the "flytie" feathering may not be expressed any more. Ohiki have very thin feathering to start with, so a thin saddle a lone doesnt justify calling him a flytie. But with a barred bird , they all should be decendants of them in ohiki

Right.. The flyties have ohiki in them.. and are thus a mix.. Flyties are not just bred for thinness, but we try to select ours toward those thin feathers, length, barb counts, and webless saddles and hackles..

Pretty coloration on a young cockerel

for just a start Amanada, that white is awesome, cant wait to see what a few years of breeding does to them. Got a cream ginger this year too. Made me think of him after seeing your pic above. He needs some type work, but came from that good shojo male I have and is looking better every day, so he has some potential too. Will try to get a new pic of him soon. Just have one of him from when he was still very young...
