OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I have 6 girls and have been getting 3 to 4 eggs a day. The other day I got 5 but the next day only 2. So not doing too bad I think. I believe all 6 are laying. My Cookoo Maran only lays an egg medim brown in color. Not much darker than my Golden Comets eggs. Then my EE s
that has a pea comb (was sooo looking forward to blue/green eggs) lays a light brown egg. Almost pink but not quite. sigh. :/ At least I'm getting eggs :)

Mine refuse to go out in the snow too--except for three or four pariahs that get booted out by the rest. So I put food and water under the nest box overhang for them and bought a bale of hay that I spread around on top of the snow. Now the rest are more willing to come out, but they're really not liking it one bit! I don't have supplemental lighting or heat; figured if they naturally slow down this time of year I should let them, plus most of my older girls are molting. Four out of five of my 6 month old Araucana pullets are laying though!

LOL! My LF girls and Silkies refuse to set foot in the snow, and my 15 guineas have taken over their coops! Roosting on the roofs at dusk before retiring to the Girl's Dorm (LF coop) to perch for the night. 15 guineas and 7 big girls makes for a PACKED 4x8 coop, but all seem happy...Oh, BTW...the guineas have their very own coop, but it is about 250 feet away in the front of my house. I think that they forget that they can fly...

Well, I set my NYD eggs late, so not expecting them to hatch till tomorrow, but I have my first three pips, at least! Yay! One coronation sussex, one LF barred cochin, and one serama :) I've never had seramas before, so quite excited about that!

Love your coops blessedchick. Just bought lumber to start a new coop for my silkies. Not starting it in 17 degree weather tho LOL

Yep, we had a major jailbreak last night :) LOL! Up to (I think) 6 LF barred cochins, 5 coronations, 3 silkies,1 serama, 2 marans and 2 mystery chicks all happily snoozing in the brooder. Lots more pips still to go!

I've been lazy about posting pics because getting them from my phone to my laptop is a pain, but I'll post a bunch after the hatch :) I haven't been playing much on the NYD hatch thread because it's too big -- I can't keep up! :) I like being able to keep up and read everybody's posts...

Congratulations on the hatch. Yes, the NYD hatch thread was difficult to keep up with, its slowed down somewhat, at least for now.

Mlmddh, you're right in Millersburg! You're practically a neighbor :) Howdy neighbor!

Yep, we've got just about exactly half hatched already, and at four p.m. it'll have been 21 days exactly so they're pretty much right on schedule. I'm hoping most of the rest will hatch as well, though I won't be surprised if I lose a few of the shipped ones. What have you got in the 'bator at your house?
