OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

the EE hatched 6/9/13
I can do that for you if you can't go, no problem!

Thank you Mandy! I will let you know! blessedchick had a prob with an outage last night. Still hoping her hatch goes well. Will keep in touch. Your EE's are only a couple weeks younger than mine I ordered fro Mur-Mcm. They all should start laying around the same time. That's good!

Just checking in from Casstown, OH. New to chickens this spring. Have (5) RIR from local TSC. Plan on getting half a dozen more next spring and a rooster. Hoping to get Buckeyes for the second batch rather than RIR again. Wanted Buckeyes from the start but couldn't find any at a reasonable price. No hard reason why one over the other. The whole time I was researching chickens, the Buckeyes just kept popping up. Just one of those things where it seemed that someone was trying to tell me something.

Chillicothe Ohio here.....Ross County. Have 6 Leghorns, a Silkie, and I believe a Silver Appleyard female. All y chickens are laying, including the Silkie. Just waiting to see if the duck lays any. Want to get more chickens, maybe some Buff Orpingtons.

Welcome! Sidney, Ohio here between Dayton and Lima. I was thinking about bringing 3 Buff Orps and possibly a roo to the swap in Delaware if you are interested!

Casstown! We're practically neighbors (I went to Miami East and Elizabeth School before that)! Live just north of Lena now but over the Shelby County line. Welcome to the forum!

We have 2 RIR hens and although they are reliable laying machines, I don't think we'll be adding any more. One is painfully bossy to the others. We actually bought them from a couple in DeGraff that had switched from RIRs to Buckeyes.

There is a swap coming up in Delaware that you've probably seen on here. Not sure if anyone will have Buckeyes there or not. There used to be someone on this thread that was the head of the Buckeye Association or something. He might be a good person to talk to. Can anyone help me come up with his name?

Yep. Went to Miami East HS. Casstown was my elementary though.

Your bossy one might be better off with a few more hens around her. They may lessen her attitude. If nothing else, they'll give your picked on one a break.

As for the swap in Delaware, I've seen a couple of mentions of it but haven't found any details yet. Went back about 15 pages or so in the thread and didn't see anything.

Edit To Add - Finally found the details for the Delaware Swap. WAAAY back on page 506.

Unfortunately, I've got a previous engagement for that weekend.

Pathfinders on the buckeye thread raises them. She is in KY. She is in the Buckeye Assc. also. I bought mine from her this spring. They are quiet, docile, and curious. I really do love them. My hen isn't laying yet. She is about 18 weeks. A friend and myself orders 12 from her. I took 6 and she took the other 1/2. She lost 3 of her chicks. Of he 3 that were left, she had 2 hens and 1 roo. Of my 6 I had 5 roos and 1 hen. I sent the extra roos to freezer camp. I plan on hatching some out next spring.

and to the Ohio thread!! I have 2 buckeyes. I really like them. Hen isn't laying yet. She is 18 weeks old. I want to hatch some out in the spring. I will keep updates on here when I do.

Does anyone on the thread breed polish? I have two tolbunts that I think are hens, but I'll be darned if I can tell for sure. They're the first ones I've ever hatched, so I'm not really familiar with them yet. I'm going to snap some pics and post them.
