OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

>_>

Yes! The swap is this weekend!! :ya I'm so excited! I'll be looking for showgirls, too. :D Bring your running shoes, sister. :plbb Kidding, kidding. I hate traffic and crowds, too, and the swap has both to boot. :sick If you can manage to get there before 7, when they open, it's not quite as bad. I got there a little before 7 in June and it looked like traffic was backed about a mile down the highway. I live nearby and don't have to go down the highway to get there thankfully. The crowds were manageable then. By 10 when I left on Saturday, the crowds were suffocating, no elbow-room at all, and traffic looked to be backed about 3 miles or so. (I'm a bad judge of distance.) Ick. I actually wish for bad weather to clear the crowds lol.

And 5 of the 13 quail that made it to lockdown have hatched, with 2 more pipped. Not including the one five-day-old from Brian. Pretty bad for 32, but assuming they're not all one gender, I'm happy. :D

I just may wait and let you have the showgirls and buy them from you!! Save me the trouble of having to fight the traffic and crowds! :D I probably have enough to keep me busy until next spring.  I think DH is thinking I'm getting to many!  He hasn't said anything, but when I told him I have  chicks coming next week from blessedchick, he asked how many.  I told him only 4. But we just put the chicks I bought from minihorse outside last week.  I have a large aquarium for a brooder in my utility room.  I think he was glad when we took it out, but now I will be putting some more in there.  I really don't have room in the other coops for the smaller ones. I guess we could divide the large coop and keep them there until they are big enough to join the adults.  With the weather turning cooler, I really don't want little ones to worry about.  So find some beautiful showgirls at lucasville,  to make pretty showgirl chicks and I will get some of yours!! :thumbsup Come on little quails!! :ya

:hugs Maybe you could still convince DH to let you come look around! Lots of neat stuff to see!

The more I think about it, I think I will let you fight the crowds and traffic.

So find the perfect showgirls that will make beautiful showgirl chicks, and I'll get mine from you next spring!!

I think I have enough for right now, especially with the weather turning cooler. My DH is going to have to build me a grow out pen. I'm thinking about a tractor big enough to house and protect the younger ones. Something we can put the heat lamp in. I just don't know when he is going to have time to do that. I have 1 showgirl and 3 silkies coming from blessedchick this coming weekend. I just moved the eo's I got from minihorse out of the utility room last week. I told DH about the ones coming, and he said how many. He never says anything, but I think he was glad when the eo's were moved out. Now we have more coming. I just remembered I have 3-4 buckeye pullets coming from pathfinders in november.

I don't know where i'm going to quarantine them! I'm going to have to figure out something! I really don't like having so many different ages in the flock. I'm going to have to cool it for a while and let everyone get caught up and in the same coop. My small coop is already full. I don't think I can fit anymore in there. I will have to put the six eo's in the large coop, but not sure I want the showgirls and silkies in with the larger ones. This kinda takes the fun out of having them, by worrying where we are going to put them all!!

OK!! ignore this post!! Something weird is going on. I replied to shaybaby and cyndichick earlier. It posted but above it was some very long ad-like post from some one with a very long username that started with mail something or other. I looked at the profile on it and it had no info except they just joined today with 10 posts. When I came back here, it was gone as was my two previous posts. So I was answering them again and after I posted this, there they were, back. But the ad post was gone! I hope I didn't click on something that gives me a virus or something. I didn't click on the actuall post or links, just the profile to see where it came from. Did any one else see it?

N'aw, well I'll certainly try to find some nice ones! I'm hoping it being the fall swap, there will be more started birds and less chicks. I'll take what I can get, though. :p I know all about worrying where to put everyone! Our separation/integration pens inside the big coop are full now and the coop is getting a bit crowded. DH and I are building an extra-long, double-sided grow-out/temporary tractor-style contraption to quarantine new birds from the swap (don't ask me how I managed to convince him! I have no idea!) that will be used as a quarantine/naughty-bird/grow-out/breeder/tractor-thing after it's served that purpose. :p
I'll let you know how it goes this weekend!

I'll see. He has a project he is working on that he can only do on Saturdays and he has only gotten to work on it a few saturdays in the last couple of months. It's something he needs to get pretty much under roof before bad weather, so I kinda hate to ask him. I'll see what he has planned, but I'm sure he is going to want to work as the weather is supposed to be great!

I saw your previous post, and the spam-ad. I reported the spammer enough that hopefully "it" was banned, or at least all it's spam all over the site removed. :)

That sounds just what I want to do. I have a tractor now, but it isn't closed all the way in. It is very nice. It's a hoop style tractor with chicken wire and on one end he had a sheet of heavy rubber type stuff that he wrapped one end with a roost and removable poop tray and a shelf with hooks to hold the food and water on. The covered end is about 4 ft long. I think it is about 10 ft long all together. It's good for warmer weather. That is where the little eo's are. We clipped the heat lamp in there to keep them warm at night and they are right be hind the house, so pretty protected. I moves pretty easily too. I want one that is a small coop type tractor that you can close them up at night.

So you saw it too? It was spam? I'm glad you caught it and reported it. I have never seen something like that on here before. I was afraid it was just on my computer! Thanks!

I will have to see if we can find a place to stay where we can have my babies! I know I can find them a good home here, so I am not worried about that. I just don't want to giveup my "cheep thera py " lol

Maybe someone on here can give you a lead to some where to rent or even buy if that is your goal!!
