OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

With March around the corner... I am so ready to start up my incubator no one seems to be laying right now though or if they are they are hiding from me! Still hoping to find a Blue Cooper Marans Rooster so I can start breeding my girls. Another breed my husband really wants is the Cream Legbar. I have a hen but our Rooster didn't make it in the cold and I don't think he was what we were told though since he didn't match the pictures.

I'm in Milford, so not too far from you. I'll have Cream Legbars once I get them separated.

My older hens are starting to pick up the production all of the sudden after going all winter thus far without anything. Thankfully, I have those cream legbars and some Catalanas that have been laying all winter like champions.

Im right around corner from marengo/cardington. Im in fredericktown. I have silkies and dominques. Havent got any eggs in weeks due to cold weather and didnt lose any birds either

Hi there Wingless :) Though we here in Cuyahoga Falls have not yet passed (hopefully soon, though!) our Backyard Chickens proposal, I would suggest checking your local city regulations if you're going to be selling more than a few dozen eggs to friends. If you're selling to the public, you may have to have a permit to sell anything at all.
On one hand, I don't think we should need to have a permit to sell some eggs, but on the other hand, I'd check to make sure that I don't get in trouble for it.
Good luck and keep clucking! :D

I sure hope something gets passed to allow Cuyahoga Falls to own chickens! I know a lot of cities have recently changed their policies to follow suit of Cleveland; I'm hoping yours will be one of them! Let me know if there's anything we can do to show support! Thank you for your reply! :)

Chicks are in at Tractor Supply! We picked up six this morning - so adorable! We bought a few Golden Comets.. We purchased a couple last year, and they have been laying eggs consistently through winter.. There were probably only a few days that they didn't lay.. Anyway, just wanted to share the good news about the chicks! Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Oh god! Looks like I'll have to stay out of there for awhile! I've been toying with the idea of getting a few hatchery birds just to feed my addiction since I haven't gotten any from my own birds yet. I may have figured out why I wasn't getting fertile eggs, but only time will tell.

The ladies are NOT happy. The white stuff is back.

When I opened the coop this morning a couple of them actually made it a few steps down the ramp before they realized there was snow in their run. They stopped, looked around in disgust, shot me a quick glare, and promptly turned around and went back in the coop. :lau

I know that quick stop on the way out the door and then the "are you kidding me????" look.
