OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

We put our bigger chicks in a dog pen thing. We basically sat outside with them the entire time hand feeding and giving them treats and such, taking a good long break from working on the run. We're close to finished so I guess it was ok to play with the chickens like we did.
Supposed to get a fair amount of rain so that will slow work down.

Hi all. I just started my very first backyard flock here in Germantown. That's just west of Dayton. I have 8 pullets that are about 6 weeks old. (keeping an eye on 2 of them as I suspect they may be cockerels). I'm not certain if there is any local law about roosters, but we want to be good neighbors.
I went with a variety of breeds: Golden Laced Wyandotte, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, Barred Rock, Light Brahma and a Dark Brahma. They are great girls! The Light Brahma and the Silver Laced Wyandotte are the two that I'm concerned about due to their redder combs. We are having a lot of fun with them though and hope they'll love hanging out with us.
