OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I wonder why the USDA has a case in Licking County listed on their site? If you look at this page and search for results in Ohio, it shows up as being in this county on Jan 18th:
https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ou...pai-2022/2022-hpai-commercial-backyard-flocks
When I just looked at that site I couldn't even see Ohio listed as one of the states that had any at all. I might be looking at it wrong I guess but that is what it showed just now when I checked it.

The cases are in order by date and unfortunately there have been a lot in other states too since the case in Licking County on the 18th. You have to type "Ohio" into the search engine under the map that you see when you scroll down. It says there was a backyard flock of 30 affected.

Anyone in sw ohio? I have heard rumors of sick birds here but it must be something else. A lot of people here are complaining about low egg counts. Mine are doing fine so far fingers crossed.

Hey everyone. I visited TSC yesterday and the chick minimum was still 6, not 3 like I thought it was gonna be. So this makes me wonder of either Ohio never changed the minimum, or TSC has a corporate rule of their own. Has anyone been to any non-TSC farm stores with chicks? What was the minimum?

I just saw this but I know the store manager for TSC in sunbury and he claims Ohio min 6 chicks. Which was always my understanding but haven’t seen anything or looked so based on your post I’m assuming Ohio was lowering it to 3?

I just read that it was lowering to 3 but wasn't able to confirm it. So far, it seems like it has stayed at 6! Unless the 6 is a TSC rule. I'd love to hear from someone who has gone to a different farm store.

Bhubbard, I just saw your post and noticed you are from Sunbury, so am I. TSC may have sold some less than 6 last fall when they were getting rid of them. I'm not sure but my impression is that they only sell minimum of 6 in the Spring. I think they want to assure that the chicks will have companionship. I plan to hatch eggs soon. Just got my incubator out and am checking to make sure everything is in good working condition. I will hatch a few in March and will pick up chicks from Meyer Hatchery in April.
