OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm in Muskingum County. I used to have Rhode Island Reds but they were too expensive to keep over the winter, so I got rid of them. Now I am wanting to get some more, does anyone have 5-6 pullets that I could buy? It's too late to start chicks, I'd love to get ones that are less than a year old and started laying already....any help to locate some would be great!!!! THANKS!

COLUMBUS, OH GAL DESPERATE FOR FEATHER FOOTED BANTAMS / WHO KNOWS ABOUT WEASELS???????????
(going to LOGAN, OH this weekend if anyone out there have some birdies for me...)

I have had a horrific experience the past 2 days: something actually managed to get in my 'Fort Knox' chicken pen (the chicken wire is buried 6" - it is covered w/ chicken wire, etc. - NO holes or entry areas to speak of) - anyhoo - it massacred 5 of my favorite banties: a Sultan, Frizzle, 2 Mille Fleurs AND a Polish. The 1st morning when I let everyone out, I noticed 3 of the 5 that perished were missing (yet, oddly, there was NO sign of them via feathers, blood, etc,,.); I distinctly recalled having seen them the nt before, but, I figured perhaps I had not. SO, LAST NIGHT, after closing everyone in; i heard a blood-curdling ruckus around midnt, ran out to the pen, beam lt in hand, and there was (my ABSOLUTE favorite) broody Frizzle running around the pen w/ a bloody, de-feathered head; it was AWFUL (I'm sure u can guess what remained of the precious 3/4 -of-the-way developed eggs...). I could NOT for the life of me figure out WHAT could have done something so horrendous; went online and, of all things, 'everyone' was convinced it was a WEASEL?! I did not know weasels were indigenous to Ohio?

That's just horrible! I'm pretty sure weasels do live all over Ohio. Have you called your OSU extension office or your local ODNR office? We lost one last week, she just disappeared so I figured it was a red tailed hawk. I called the ODNR office and the guy I spoke with has lost 2 of his to hawks that same week.

Free battery hens everybody! They wouldn't survive shipping, so locals get first dibs. There's seven of them right now, and I have another building to search. They just got taken this morning, at the end of their commercially productive life (18 monthe old!), but they are still laying. I herded them up and down the stinky manure pits for several hours today, forgoing my horseback ride, in order to save them from starvation. I don't want them, though, so come and get them! I may be going to the Bellefontaine show in a couple of weeks, so I can meet you there, or you can come to my home in Osgood, about an hour each from Richmond, Dayton, and Lima.

Hi, fellow Ohioans! I live in Novelty(about 45 minutes east of Cleveland) in Geauga co. I have 47 chickies , 5 more the end of the month.I am looking for babies ( or eggs that I can pick up) for Houdans and the more rare colors of Bearded D'Uccles if there is anyone within a 2 hour drive who has any for sale. I am particularly interested in really well bred Houdans. I would very much like to talk with anyone who has a Houdan or is interested in the breed( I have a roo and a hen) and am amazed at how friendly and smart they are( am I a bit biased???) my email is [email protected]. Looking forward to talking chicken with you!!!
