Dumb question here...could you tell me what are Easter Eggers? Are they Americaunas? I have 4 that lay blue/green eggs and, well, I guess I don't know what they are!

There are actually a couple threads that talk about that - but the previous post is true - lovely mutts that lay colored eggs - or an un recognized color

Yes there are other threads about EEs, Araucanas, and Ameraucanas chickens. I was referring to the link to the Meyer Hatchery for Buckeye chickens actually, you know, for people who happened to be true Ohioans. Guess I didn't word that post right. I do not have any experience with the Buckeye chickens and my present favorite chicken happens to be the EEs.

I also just have 4 EEs two of which do lay a rather blue egg. I bought them from Mt. Healthy hatchery. They sell them as Araucanas-Ameraucanas but add that they are commonly called Easter Eggers, because they lack the pureness required to call them anything else, in other word they are really just Mutts, but adorable mutts none the less.

I was just given a rooster that is supposed to be a pure bred Araucanas. He does look like it and the lady said she hoped I didn't want it to eat, which I don't plan to. She said it carried the blue egg gene and I want to cross it with my EE hens that lay blue eggs. I have a some mutt pullets, (cross breeds), that I also would like to cross with this rooster just to see what I get. Well, they will be MUTTS, I'm sure

I don't plan to put eggs in the incubator for at least another month, as I still have to move some chickens and roosters around first.

Would anyone in western Ohio or eastern Indiana be interested in splitting an order from a hatchery? I am interested in getting some Royal Palm poults, but I don't want 15. PM me if you are interested.
