OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I know a few stables around my area where friends keep their horses. I can give the names to see if they have room available. I don't know where she'd be traveling through.

Hi,
She will be starting back home on Friday. She found a fairground that will let them stop and over night near or in Dayton. Thank-you MallardDuckling for the offer, talked to Makayla and she might be contacting you with a pm. Depends on the internet service in Oklahoma.

Thank-You All Again,

Maye

Hi there! I'm not sure of the route she would be taking but I am just 25 mins North of Columbus and would be happy to help out! I have a spare room and an extra stall/run in for her horse...no problem at all!
I don't know if it would help but she is welcome to stop in Coshocton although it is about 30 minutes from I 70 or I-77.  I wouldn't charge her anything but I don't know what her needs are either.

Hi All,

A great big THANK-YOU for all the offers of help for Makayla and her boy. She was down to the wire so she booked a stall at the Dayton fair grounds. They are going to stay with him. I really don't blame her after having him taken once. She is not letting him out of her site. It is so great to see the offers of help from the great horsepeople of Ohio. If any of y'all are ever down in Florida pm, maybe we can get together.

Human kindness is alive and well, let's keep it that way.

Thank-you all again,

Maye

Hi ohio peeps. Ny husband and i are considering a move to cleveland from florida (insane right lol) anyway i was wanting to get some info on chicken laws and the areas to look for a place to live that is affordable but not crime ridden. I also have a son with autism so tbh the most importnat thing is a public school that is wel known for a good ese program. I read that a standard lot should be able to accomadate about 6 hens. But i would love to be able to keep my breeding stock.

Tia for any i nput.

Hey all! Thank you do much for your kind offers! I tried calling so many stables/barns I had to give in so I really appreciate your offers and good samaritan kindness! We found a nearby fairground that will let us keep him in a stall and we are allowed to stay near it in the truck. They will even let us use their bathrooms! Woohoo! I was starting to freak out. Still a 12 hour drive at minimum but with a good rest he should be good to go!

Thank you all do much from all of us!

What a pretty boy! Glad you were able to get him back!

"Question for all you Buckeyes!
I am new to chickens (39 chicks in April)
Any suggestions on how to keep the chickens cool?
They have plenty of water, but they are just panting and panting.
Big run 20 x 20 enclosed with hardware cloth from top to bottom."

You could also freeze some ice blocks in old butter/cool whip/etc containers and add them to their water. I've also set up a sprinkler at times. I've also read about people freezing treats in the water like a few blue berries and setting the ice block out for the chicken to peck at.
A 20 x 20 isn't all that big a run, especially for 39 chicks.
