OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hi Kathychick,
I believe that rhode island red can be noisey so if you want quiet friendly birds I would look at australorps, orpingtons, barred rocks and delawares. I have an easter egger, an australorp, an orpington, a golden comet, a cuckoo maran and a laced wyandotte. all are pretty quiet and all are friendly. My EE by far has the most personality and is more adventurous than the others. And she has that nifty beard lol.

Golden Comets are my favorite layers so far. They are great layers and very clam and sweet.

I would agree. My GC lays the biggest, brownest eggs of all my chickens (Buckeyes and Barred rocks). Not only that, she hasn't missed a day since she started laying. I'm thinking of adding some more next year during TSC chick days.

GREAT!!! Thank you very much! I'm looking up their site now!

Thank you for giving me your thoughts on how I can get a diverse yet good group of girls!

I've order my Meyer catalog and have opened an account with them. SPRING HURRY UP ;-)

Hi all you chicken lovers out there. I will be getting my first chicks this spring (very excited) and I am in the planning stages of my coop. I would really like use something for the insde walls and possibly the floor that is easy to clean and won't hold the smell like wood does. Any suggestions?

Lowes or Menard's has pre-cut sheets of linoleum for pretty cheap. 8x12 is about $35. If you have good ventilation and use deep-litter or clean frequently, the smell shouldn't be a problem.
