Ohio National....Who's all going?

I feel your pain - I can't find ANY of the birds I want, even after making breeder inquiries for the past several months. (Big, huge sigh) Good luck! Like I said, I got Daphne right off the floor.

What birds are you looking for? Maybe someone knows a breeder they can set you up with.

Thanks - I've pretty much contacted all the good breeders for the breeds I want - LF Faverolles, LF Brahmas, and Jersey Giants. I want SQ, and no one has those, except for pairs. I can't breed myself right now, so I only really want birds I can show. It will be different in a few years when I have my own land, but I can't have roos where I am. Hatching eggs are no good either because (A) I don't have an incubator, and (B) if I get any roos I have nowhere to get rid of them, as I am one of the very few people in my county with chickens, and the ones I do know have the same roo restriction that I have. Someday I'll be breeding and have a nice website like yours! Until then, I will just have to be patient. I still have the Crossroads Show to look forward to. I'll be contacting breeders six months in advance for that! Thanks again!

I have been conditioning my Sebastopols for the show. I couldn't show them last year because they started breeding at odd times and pulled all the nice feathers that were growing in. Sure hope we have room to haul everything to the show. We have a trailer, but birds will be stacked to the top.

Does anyone remember what food they sell? I am always hungry at the shows.

Just the usual burger and dog stand, last time I was there. Makes it difficult for me as a vegetarian. I tend to bring food with me, or survive on fries, since I don't want to leave the grounds to eat.

Once you have eaten at the food concession at The OHIO NATIONAL you will never forget the experience. Nor will you ever recover financially. I suggest that you bring crusts of bread and stale water. It will be better than what you can buy there.
I have seen hungry people competing with the birds for scratch grain.

Then you can go out to dinner and select from a really nice group of resturants within walking distance of the host hotels. Really folks- I suggest that you bring a cooler with some cold sandwich fixins and beverages.
I like to have a snack about 9:30 and lunch about noon. Very partial to turkey and swiss on white. Be sure to invite me.

I am going to really try to attend this one! This will be my first show that I had ever went too so I am hoping everything will work out. I just need to find a chicken sitter and if this works out, I should be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to meet people and see all the beautiful birds there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not that I consider it "real" food, there is a McDonald's just outside the NE corner of the fairgrounds that would be far cheaper than eating anything bought on the fairgrounds. Remeber if you drive off the grounds you repay parking if you didn't buy an event parking pass. You can drive over to near the edge, find an opening and walk over. Packing is my usual choice for any event I attend at the fairgrounds.

If this is your first show, you will feel let down at every other one - just warning you!

It is truly spectacular, something every poultry person should see at least once in their lives. I just wish there was time to meet and talk to everyone I wanted to see. Seems like, even though you can't feel your feet anymore, you wish it was a couple of hours longer so you could check in with just a few more people.

I go for the Peanut Butter & Cheese crackers myself, with Mountain Dew, followed by a few Oreos. It's a Carb/Caffeine/Sugar combo - keeps you going! (With no real nutrition to weigh you down!)
