Ohio National...

I'm going for the first time, so excited! Already reserved my hotel room, lol. I'm on the hunt for a couple more great quality silkies, a really nice bantam cochin roo, and maybe a couple more BBS Ameraucanas. An ABC breeder is bring a couple birds for me to look at and pick from, what a nice guy! I am gong to get a roo from him and another from a BYCer the PA Farm Show. Chicken people are so nice

I've never been at a real chicken show before, my hubby thinks I'm nuts, haha. I've been rolling my pennies for a month now...

there ought to be a "Ohio National- Wanted/Bringing" Thread to help streamline "shopping".

I'm really excited to see what's involved in showing chickens. Can't be as expensive as showing horses, I hope. I'd love to give it a try in the future!

Ok I am trying to convince my parents! I have college applications but my Dad said if I got it all done we could fly out. I said no I want to drive I can't have chickens on the plane

I'm going for the first time along with Quail_Antwerp, and I'm also looking for something. I need a Gold Laced Wyandotte rooster, worthy of breeding. I already have 2 great hens.

And I might be interested in a young trio of Partridge Rock or Barnevelder if they are out there.

Thanks

I am trying to find out if there is going to be a banquet Saturday after the show. I checked the entry form and there was no information about one. Does anyone know if there is one planned?

Some of us that are attending and not bringing birds may still want to join in.

Thanks,

Thanks,

We do not have a banquet at The OHIO NATIONAL. Columbus, and especially the area where most of the hotels we use are, is a town full of restaurants that the attendees really enjoy going to.

Social time at The OHIO NATIONAL is generally during and after dinner on Saturday since the show hall is closed at 6P on that day. There are many lounges in the headquarters hotel area. Especially the one in the HQ hotel itself. That would be the Hilton Garden Inn. That is where most of the show principals hang.

In the old time tradition many attendees go room hopping at the hotels. Many room doors are open and all poultry people are welcome to stop in and share the refreshments. If you are new to the hobby just wait till you hear poultry conversation and then walk right in and introduce yourself. Many of us have great memories of the fun had and the knowledge shared in these room parties. My advice to you - listen. A great deal of what many of us longtime poultry fanciers learned happened in those room parties.
