There will be few hatching eggs or day olds offered compared to shows held in the springtime.

The OHIO NATIONAL is one of the very best places to aquire better quality birds. And don't just lurk around Trader's Row. Look in the show aisles where birds that interest you for the exhibitors to be hanging around. They are easy to pick out. Running from bird to bird declaring the judge was blind or the "bird wouldn't show" etc. These are the exhibitors and don't be afraid to ask them about the birds you ae interested in. The birds in the show will generally be more expensive to buy than in Traders Row. But then if you are serious about better quality consider this - how economical is a $5 bird and a ton of feed to take years to breed up the stock? Not as nearly as economical as a $25 or $50 bird that can take years off your breeding program.

Remember that as one of the last shows of the year the birds that breeders have left to sell or those from the final cut. If they are not sold they will go home to be wintered over - that is how good they are.

Remeber that it dosen't take any more feed for a good one than it does for a poor one.

Thanks Neil Those are good points thanks for the info

When you get birds at the show what do you do for them once you get them home. to help them make the transition to a new environmnet? Obviously they should be quarantined but what else ....give them a vitamin formula, electrolytes etc?

I am looking for a show quality sebastopol gander while there. Does anyone know of any breeders that are going? (Besides Kat, Vicky and the Foleys)

I'll be there and the Ameraucana Breeders Club Directors will all have name tags on.

I emailed Nifty or whomever gets the email about the possibility of having some name tags printed up the type that say My Name Is.....with the BYC logo on it. That way we would know who all the bycer's are. We could put our username and real name under that.

Does anyone know of anyone selling black langshans at this show? I am very interested in starting a small flock of this breed. Don't know if I can talk hubby into the trip or even getting new birds now but...it's worth the try.

As of this evening the entry at The OHIO NATIONAL already exceeds last years record breaking show of 5,300 birds. This will be the largest poultry show ever held that did not host an ABA or APA national meet.

I am told that the Amerucana National Meet has a very large number of birds entered. There is also a heavy entry of large chickens.

It sounds like you might as well come to Columbus, everybody else is going to be there.

I can't wait to go! This is my first show and looks like it's going to be well worth the trip there.

I just hope someone emails me back soon. It seems there are enough events/gatherings where a large number of bycer's attend that could use nametags like this. They could sell them in the byc store.
