And can a chicken only show in one class?
Also if you have already had a flock tested for fair this year does that count? bringing that paperwork?

if you had the chickens you're bringing tested at the fair this summer, bring that paperwork ... if tested for pullorum, that's all they care about for the Ohio Nationals.

For the Ohio Nationals, say you have a golden sebright pullet ...

she can only show in the bantam clean legged rose comb golden sebright pullet class.

If you have a trio and enter as a trio, I think the judge them both as a trio and as individuals, but I'm not totally sure on that

If you email Eric for the catalog, the show entry form will be really easy to figure out how to fill out. It's hard to explain in a forum.

Rules stay pretty much the same from year to year.

yea ... if you don't come in the evening before ... pardon the pun, you're running around like a chicken without your head.

This is a really big show to go to for a first time show. Not trying to talk you out of it, but maybe you should go as a spectator this time, or really try to get there friday evening to get the birds cooped in.

Many of the poultry groups are like this too.

To at least stay abreast of when shows are and who toi contact for show catalogs, Poultry Press is a great investment.

The articles and updates from the different poultry associations are informative and entertaining also. They oftentimes cover show prep as well.

THanks I need to get it but since they don't take easy forms of payment like paypal, it boils down to me getting a money order/sending snail mail etc....the long way,

I did get a hold of Eric, the only person who had any easy contact info.

Got a lot of info and will be getting a catalog when they come out.
Do they do testing there on the grounds if you bring one that wasn't tested but was in the "test subjects" flock?

I went to the Ohio Nationals last year and it was really great. There was alot of competition in both the junior class and the open class, and for me as a newbie, it was quite intimidating. The showmanship was very cool too. I showed in the senior division and made it to the finals but the questions were crazy hard. It's a wonderful place to meet people and learn alot about chickens. I purchased a trio of mille fleur d'uccles and they are absolutley wonderful. There were 4 big rows of sale coops and that was fun too look and see what they had and it also gave you the chance to shop around. I would recommend going anyways even if you weren't going to show(and your not too far away) because you can learn alot.

Thanks everyone! I am emailing him in a minute with a few more questions and for a catalog. I get SUPER stressed when I don't know exactly what is going on. This is my 3rd ''real'' show [not 4-H]. It is so nice when I get to go to other shops. There is really no competition at our fair, I won Grand Champion Overall Poultry in 4-H and Open classes, and Showmanship for the County and got to participate in Supreme showmanship where you show all different kinds of animals and get to judge the other winners on chickens! It was blast. We found a hotel for $60 with an Olympic sized pool and such! We are booking it today. My main reason to go to the show is really to buy more birds. I feel this is a wonderful oppurtunity. I am hoping to sell a few of my other birds before the show to make even more room. Although I already have extra space now. I am just hoping I don't come home with too many birdies and not have places to put them. But considering that is my biggest problem we are doing pretty good!! I will be making a list of which breeds I want [need

] most to help stay focused. Probably won't work too well though. Well thanks soooo much for all the info. Hope to see you all there. I will be the one running around frantically and freaking out over everything and yelling at my dad [happens when I am stressed and he doesn't ''obey'' my every command. ]

Hello,
Do you just pay $3.50 per bird. And they put it in the right class?
Or do you have to pick class?

We received a form for the show in connersville Indiana and it has C P K (something else at the top of the form you fill out. Couldn't figure out what they all meant.

Can you have 1 bird for $3.50 in multiple classes or do they only show one class?
