OK for Turkeys to Eat Rabbit Chow?

Howdy!

I just received a pair of Midget White turkeys. (Love them!) The tom is tall enough to nibble out of our rabbit feeders, which he seems to enjoy quite a bit. My first thought was it's probably okay, as rabbit chow is unmedicated and mostly alfalfa (18% protein), but the vitamins and minerals added are, of course, formulated for rabbits not poultry.

I feed Purina Flock Raiser (20% protein) to the birds, plus scratch grains and vegetable trimmings. They free range, but it's slim pickings this time of year.

I wouldn't want it to be the main source of diet, but I don't think it would hurt them. One thing that I have done with rabbit feeders, I had a few broody hens in the larger rabbit cages when they were sitting on eggs. The barn cats seem to think that poultry food is good so I put chunks of 2x4 (about 4" long) in the top of the feeders (the feeders are the type that mount on the outside of the cage with the feed pan that goes in at the bottom). I just dropped them on top of the food and it was enough to discourage the cats.
