Yesterday evening my dad comes over with a bag and he sits the bag on the table and says ( here do what you want with it ) and smiles and leaves witch is odd lol

So i walks to the bag and open it and what do ya know it's EGGS!
there was a small note in the bag that said ( here are 10 eggs from a unknown white chicken and 12 Banty eggs all laid today )

here they are

Ok yes the eggs are dirty but should i clean them? one time when i was hatching i had a few dirty eggs and it didn't seem to hurt anything because they hatch out fine but what do you think?

and the large eggs on the out side are the eggs to the white unknown hen and the small eggs in the middle are the banty eggs

now this is the perfect time to try my hand at turning the eggs on my own i haven't in a long long while and i wanna try again

Second i don't know if i should incubate all the eggs?? should i??? or just a few of each????

First tell Dad to get some straw or some pine shavings or something... better yet, give some to him as a gift.

If you are in to hatching and you've got the room. Do all of them.

Good luck.

Might as well hatch them all out, since you never know what percentage of them will. I would not wash the eggs, the natural "bloom" on it is a much better protectant than washing it off with water.

You may as well incubate them all if you have the space in the bator. You know everyones theory on here about "Needing More Chickens!"

I have had eggs hatch after being gently cleaned and I have had people tell me they had bad hatches, so I guess the choice is really up to you as to whether you feel comfortable with it or not.
Usually I don't wash my eggs, just sorta rub off the dirt with one of those plastic pot scrubber thingies dry. Seems to work well and that way the eggs don't get wet. The would have to be downright filthy before I would actually "wash" them but that's just me.
Good luck! How exciting!!!!

You haven't hatched since September? How can you stand the withdrawal??

I'd say hatch away and if you've got the room, set them all.

I've had some dirty eggs in the past and I did the same thing Pumpkinpup did--use the pot scrubber thingie. Don't know if it made a difference, but it made me feel better that they weren't quite so dirty-looking!

Good luck--it'll be fun hatching surprise eggs!

But i have to rethink this

i can't incubate all the eggs as much as i want to
i have to many button quails i can't help it they are cute

i have 20 something buttons and they have at least 70% of room for my brooder/hatching area

so i don't know how to do this

like what should i incubate?

3 of each???
