Ok here comes some stupid question from a novice

The sleeping with the head extended....my Australorp does that sometimes when she is laying on something soft and fluffy.

it's too cute really. It looks like they've truly dropped where they were exhausted. And let me say that with all the activity I can just imagine why they're exhausted.

When Ese would sleep all stretched out like that (up through puberty) he looked exactly like a rubber chicken....it does give one a start. I also rehab wild bunnies and this new batch sleeps on its side all stretched out...which looks exactly like a dead bunny...I'm trying to get used to it. I love when the chicks are in full play mode then stop and collapse to sleep...like a baby falling asleep face first in the food dish! Welcome...I love this place!

BTW I have one pullet that I call Little All ALoney...she is always the last to catch up with the rest of the thundering herd...and is always off in the bushes alone...they truly have very different personalities

Ese_N_Gracie exactly.... & yes I guess they do look like a rubber chicken when they're stretched out. LOL I told hubby the other day that being a chicken I would be sleeping with my neck stretched out.

So anyway that pic is that cage seems to be getting too small I think with the food & water dish in it. I think they're getting on one another's nerves or getting in each others way etc. There's 4 of them & so what would you all upgrade to next?

Oh, I see the pic now. Can you take them outside and let them play for awhile, in the dirt for a dirt bath? They do grow so fast, so most definitely, start looking for a bigger area.

ibpboo ohmygosh they are too cute and a dirt bath? LOL ok and they seem to be able to *fly* out of the cage if the top is open hubby made the mistake of leaving it open the other day when he went to get some grit from the kitchen & he came back & one of the Barred rocks was sitting on the lip of the top of the cage..... ROFL I want to take them out but I'm afraid I won't be able to round them back up &/or I'm afraid it will turn into a circus. LOL I had thought maybe a dogs Xpen & then if I have to use chicken wire to make the holes smaller I could do that. at least outside. What to use inside is a different thing.
