Ya, I took a look at PC's BYC page. I now understand why "that was just just." So first my original pastoral image was shattered by the vision of a headless plucked chicken in a dress, to the something, um, more personal. I should stop talking now.

And THEN, I clicked on his "killing a silkie" video, thinking it would be a parody on their cuteness.... only find myself screaming, when I became apparent that it really was an instructional video on dinner101.

Go on, laugh at the noob, but I've never seen a chicken get offed, and I'm currently at the "I love my first two silkie chicks so much I could just squeeze them to death" stage. I haven't made the transition from "friends" to "meat" lol, and don't know if I will...

And thank-you very much.. now I won't get that song from "Hair" outa my head for several hours....

So Purple Chicken guy.. WHAT is that amazing looking black n white speckled creasted rooster in that one pic?

But anyway, back to topic.. there is something perfect and peaceful about sitting with the chickens in the afternoon, and it's one of the finer things in life. Dorks? Yeah. Happy? Yeah.

Glad you enjoyed my page. You are at a disadvantage being new here.
People need to ease into me or can be permanently damaged.

That white roo is a Spitzhauben hatched from eggs a BYC member
sent me. He was a cool chicken.

Chickens are multipurpose to me. Some are friends and would NEVER
be offed. Others are meat.

For me, when I go sit in my barn and let the chickens run around me
I get a feeling of serenity that's hard to describe. Several of my birds
will hop up on me and hang out. I have fallen asleep more than once
out there.

The chickens will nap too.

Well, Maplesky, I recovered, and am stronger for it. I'll be ok, lol. I actually enjoy macabre and twisted humor, so I really got a kick out of the boy with the chicken-head finger-puppet.

I want one of those chickens, PC. I must obtain one! Some of the local folks here in NH are gonna have a processing party, so maybe I'll go and get bloody, or at least watch...

I'm pretty sure I got the eggs from CORancher but I'll have to check. It's
been a while. The Spitzes get along well with silkies too.

Processing isn't all that bad. I'd rather raise a chicken with love and care
and then harvest it than support the disgusting things involved with
factory farms. The silkie video was taken and then edited by a young
friend of mine. When I first saw it I was mortified. One thing to know
is that the silkie we chopped in the vid did a lot of damage to other
silkies in the coop and was culled out of nessecity (bad spelling yikes).

pc you could cull my extra roos anytime. I believe you are humane and swift.

OKCarla is who I got those eggs from. She was a pleasure to deal with
and the birds are beautiful.

LOL that's funny. My son and his friend spent the very first night in the hen house BEFORE the hens were in there yet though. It was still cute. They had lights and tv and video games out there. They had a blast.
