OK I DONT KNOW IF ThIs IS the RIGHT Spot......

Have you tried talking to animal control about barrowing some live traps? That way you can contain them until morning when animal control can come pick them up. If that doesn't work I love the laxative idea! Anothing thing I've heard people do is give the dogs something smelly to roll in or rubbing skunk smell on them (I don't know how they get it though, sorry). If you can make it inconvenient for the owners to let the dogs out, without actually harming the dogs, they will probably stop letting them get out. Good luck and

to you!

ETA: Have you looked into electric fencing? I've heard of many people who keep their chickens safe by putting electric around their coop and run (which is chicken wire). It's cheaper than wire fencing and there are solar charged ones if you can't run electricity to the coop.

P.S thank you all again

I am so sorry for your loss and lack of sensitivity of the Grammar police! If you are dealing with a loss the last thing in the world that helps is someone critizing you and you grammar (Get over it guys) We are not making a post on a English or Grammar Forum. Its A CHICKEN Forum for gods sake! I have a college degree in management and am not that picky but I for one love my Flock and remember where I came from! Rural Midwest (MISSOURI) Farm family my dad had a 6th grade education! So Nuff said

The dogs need to be dispatched in an appropriate method! One thing you can do is 10 Pounds of chocklate around the pen! That will do in almost any dog in the world and wasnt your fault that the dogs were on your property and ate it!

Sorry again for your loss! I lost a little Frizzle polish hen to a possum and have now Held Trial and Condemed anything that comes on my Property to attack my flock be it shooting or otherwise! I might say I am animal Lover and have several Cats a Dog and 14 Hens and One fabulous Roo that is my Pride and Joy! I would hate to lose any of them

I'm sorry too . The least people could do if they are intent on criticising is address the op's problem first, and dispense grammar lessons last. I had no problem reading the post or understanding it. I noticed the capitals and lack of paragraphs etc. so what? I suffer from insomnia and sometimes when I read my replies I can't believe how much I scrambled words or thoughts. If I really goofed up to the point someone probably couldn't understand my comments, I go back and add a ps with corrections. Gratefully no one has jumped on me to suggest I am crazy or illiterate.

This poster came to us needing advice not an education. I don't see why anyone that has been bitten by these dogs should ever be told to try and confine them. They aren't sweet little puppies. I do think she should stop talking to the neighbor. She should ignore them as much as possible while doing what she can to secure her animals. If the dogs end up missing some day the poster has no idea what may have happened to them. Chocolate is said to kill dogs if they eat enough of it. With Halloween barely past, I wouldn't think it was unusual if stray dogs somehow found and managed to eat alot of it.

I would imagine that they prefer the excitement of killing defenseless chickens to munching on sweets but, you never can tell.

One more thought just occured to me. I have never seen the mention of "cattle prods," on this site. I don't know how affective they would be. But I think if the op had one and dogs jumped at her or tried to bite again, she could surprise them with her "magic wand." I don't know how powerful they are, if they are legal or not, but I am sure someone reading this would know. It would seem that a person with farm animals would use such an apparatus if the need presented itself.

I like the cattle prod Idea too! But still believe that they need to be dispatched as soon as possible! A Small Piece of Lead inserted in the Cranium (By the way this needs to be inserted under pressure from black powder) in other words shoot now and be done with it and save the judicial system and animal control the problem of future calls

If the owner still doesn't listen, talk to animal control about barrowing live traps. You don't have to get close to the dogs at all this way and you can still contain them for animal control. For the time being you may want to look into getting pepper or bear spray to keep the dogs away from you and your children. Again,

Again I sayif you need me I can come setlive traps for you and remove the dogs from your property I live on 640 acres of wheat pastures anything goes out here. I would so kindly relocate them to my wonderful pet cemetary Please feel free to PM me if you need any further assistance.Or can not get a handle on the situation. I raised American Pitbull terriers for 14 years and even though I had conditioned dogs if they ever even thought about Biting a person there lives were short lived. Its situations like these that give breeds bad names. and since we cannot deal with owners accordingly you have the right to protect not only your livestock, But your family as well. No child or woman need live in fear of another persons irresponsibilitys. If you need me I am here. thanks and have a blessed day. keep me updated on your situation.
