Ok - I know this isn't a chicken, but I don't know where else to post...

We found this little bird today in our open garage. It has a bracelet, so it obviously belongs to someone, but we have asked neighbors without success. I'd post an ad on Craigslist, but I don't even know what kind of bird this is (I have only ever had chickens). It has quite a bit of purplish and greenish gleam to it's feathers and bright red feet.

Also, if you know what it is, can you tell me if it would be ok for it to eat chicken food or scratch for a day or two until we figure out who it belongs to.

Looks like a homing pigeon .... must have lost its way. This website describes how to read the band on its leg. Hope this helps.
