If you are thinking about showing Ameraucanas they will have to be too the
American Standard of Prefection..

Well I have 2 that i was thinking on bringing to show, but not sure what they are for sure.
One is that big black one, but a lot say he is not pure. But i was told he was a araucana project bird to develop the European araucana.

and one is a Pure black Araucana, i believe.
I think he is the father of the black cockerel i showed in the pics.

Ameraucana's are a true breed and EE's are mutts NOT THE SAME! Ameraucana's have slate legs , ee's greenish~ Ameraucana's eggs are blue, ee's are blue, green, pink or light brown. They blues are very different!

read the link in the breed section on the differences, it's a sticky. Good reading and info.

hummmm, he doesn't look pure. He doesn't have tufts and from what i have seen they have them from the time they are little. Araucanas that is...LOL all rumpless~

We need rodrigezpoultry~

you wouldn't show a EE but if pure ameraucana, sure! but he looks like neither

Wait you dont think he is not either EE or Ameraucana? Or either EE or Araucana?

I mean do you think he is EE, and pure, or totaly something else?

All your birds are EEs.

There are no questions.

He is not pure Araucana or Ameraucana; he doesnt have muffs or tufts.

All of your birds are mutts.... You can tell this by -

1) Lack of APA standard colors

2) Highly differentiating body types

3) Wrong leg colors

4) Wrong features

Hope this helps.

ALSO, to add more confusion, hehe, I learned this last year sometime either on BYC or one of the links off of Feathersite... EEs could have slate legs if 2 different recognized colors of Ameraucana were mixed, it will produce a non recognized color and that in turn would be an EE even though both parents were Ams. Wierd huh...

ETA: Oh yeah and Araucana are tufted or tuftless... you can't breed tufted and tufted because of the lethal gene the babies would have a way higher percentage of dying in the shell... But better chance breeding tufted to tuftless....

so my black one is tuftless, so far that is the only thing that is said not be pure, if araucana can be tuftless, does that mean he is pure.

Where'd you get him and did they hatch him from their own stock to where they can show that he is pure Araucana? How old is he? I just got an EE off a friend that is around 6 mo.s I think she said...This pullet was tailless came from a blue egg looked like could be Araucana until recently she now has a tail and I'll have to look again at her legs but I think they are correct coloring... So they can fool you for a while. I wouldn't take the chance of showing if I wasn't 100% sure it was pure or not. Do you have any other chickens you can show other than these?

ETA: Nevermind looks like you have several other breeds you could possibly show.
