my male buttonquail has a Large wound on his head, all the feathers are gone. and there was a tiny amount of blood on his head. I AM FREAKING OUT! he and his female have in the last couple days started a nest. I have never seen them act aggressive towards each other. so I am wondering if he hit his head on the roof of their cage? What should I do? will his feathers grow back? is there anything I should put on it? sorry for the overload of questions. but I love my Buttonquail so much I don't know what I would do if something happened to them!:hit

He will be fine as long as he stops popping and hitting his head over and over again.Time will tell if they grow back, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't depending on how much he has damaged it.It's very rare for a button to set on eggs, they do but very few seem to be interested in it.

Thanks I don't know how to stop him from hitting his head, he does it all the time. yes, my friend has buttons and they are not interested in setting, but mine accually have been!:D it makes me very happy!

Blackdust, I cant separate them. because the male has been helping her while she is nesting, and I don't want her to starve. and they are a very affectionate pair and if I separated them they might die of stress. I am 99.999 percent sure she didn't do it because they were snuggleing when I saw his wound. Thanks for the suggjustion though!
