I'm very inexperienced here, but I'm afraid my little runt 'Dottie' is a roo. Am I just paranoid? Take a look at her tail feathers, they stand above her much bigger sisters. She has NO comb, and is definatly the runt. I'm only speculating on her tail feathers and what seem to be saddle feathers with pointy ends. YIKES! Please say it aint so!

I'm no expert either, but she looks a bit pulletish to me. The slow growers often end up roosters though, so I'm not much help!

Yes, I agree, her 'look' is definatly more pullet - with the no comb etc. I think she's about 10 weeksish. Those drapey feathers freaked me out....along with the fact that her tail feathers are kinda curly at the ends and have a fine point.

My husband made a bet with me, he thinks she's a girl and I'm just being paranoid. He bet me breakfast (when? Probably when she lays an egg, I'll cook it up for his breakfast I guess:plbb). Heck, I live in a house full of boys (three boys + husband), my 6 chickens are my only hope, I can't afford another boy!!!!

I don't think the chicken is necessarily a rooster ,because my hens had tail feathers sticking up and small combs.

A boy would be more patchy colored, especially on the wings and back...her feather pattern is pretty uniform so I'm sure that's a girl.
