LOL! Mine stay out 24/7 too. They don't know what the inside of a barn looks like. We trim about every 2 months. But last year was so dry we didn't trim but once all summer.

We normally let our horses out 24/7. But with the founder issues, they will have to be stalled for awhile, lots of padding for their poor little feeties.

Thank you to my son, I am soooo glad we sent him to farrier school when he was 17!!!! Otherwise, I don't think I could have taken them on.

This reminds me...JoJo is 7 weeks from her trim so time to call the farrier....do not need to look, she is good for 8 weeks. Pedicure time for the Diva.

It was not a pony we had, it wa one a neighbor was looking to buy. Sounds like its not the same area. Whew. I wouldnt want kids on this one that was for sale in Norco. Dangerous. I am floored at how they would let feet get that bad. How painful. Your son did a great job does he ever do shoeing out this way. Lol I am still looking for a good shoer. The one I used seems to busy to put me on the calendar.
I rescued a few horses and although their feet were bad , i cant get why anyone would not tend to their feet for so long. Wow. Glad you have them. We just recently got a horse that had been starved and neglected back on track. He's doing awesome. We give loads of TLC and he is turning out to be one of the sweetest horses. Not to mention very trustworthy. I do have to bute him for long rides, no idea ho he got the really bad leg injury. That heavens for Bute lol.

Thanks everyone, they are moving pretty well this morning. I hate to give bute, only when necessary. Next is the bloodwork up. They are soooo sweet, considering everyone thought Thor was crazy. He is such a good boy and now everytime I step out he is whinning for me.

I think a lot of people justify the feet because they think well if wild horses never get their feet trimmed ours will be fine. I here that excuse a lot. Although, Loki is the worst I have personally dealt with.

They just love the kids, like they have their own personally butler. It is pretty cute how quickly their personalities came around.

Now I have to find a good diet treat receipe!!

Awwww glad they are so sweet. You can mix a little whole.wheat flour, shredded carrot and apples, some brain feed annd and some water or light kayro syrup and bake it like cookies. I will look through my treat recipes and see what I can find.

Thanks, I would appreciate it. I have the receipe you gave and my horses love it, but it is to high in sugar for these guys right now with the founder issues.
