ok newbie with lots of questions....

I have also found that the thread, "Where are you, where am I" is a great source. You will find people in your state will probably be very willing to help you (not that eveyone else won't be, but there is no place like home!) I have made such great friends on the Michigan link.

1. How will I know when my hen's are ready to start laying?

2. Should I make any changes to feed/other things?

3. How do I know if they are edible or hatchable? (meaning If I leave them in there will they hatch, or if I take them will they be edible and not have baby chicks?)

4.I should check for eggs daily right?

5. How long after they do the deed should I expect eggs?

************************************************
1. What kind of pullets ? how old are they ?
2. Whats your protein ration ?
3. all eggs are edible fertile or not you can always do a test batch to see if they are being fertilized
4. I check mine 3 times a day when i do my feeding.
5. hens lay every 24-26 hours taking a day off here and there.

Hope that helps !

I had fake eggs in all my next of the RIR for a few weeks so they got use to eggs and then I took them out last week and today collected my first real egg...19 weeks old.

Oh yes I just started mine on pellets yesterday as was getting so close to laying and they ajusted to the pellets just fine..last week for a snack I threw a few hand fulls of pellets on ground for them so they were use to it..all is well..
