Ok now what???

I have a pair of silkies, and a trio of bb reds. The silkie hen has been laying eggs and we take them. Today she got in her spot that she lays which is not in the coop. They free roam. Instead of laying the egg and moving, she has sat there all day! And now it's night and she's still there. My question is.. Since she only has the one egg today, will she continue to sit on just the one egg? Or will she lay more? And, do I start counting days to egg May hatch from today? Pretty much, I've never had a hen lay and don't don't what or how many chicks to expect!! So PLEASE help!!!!!

she has gone broody and probably will not lay more. its not safe to leave her out. i would pick her and her egg up and put them in the coop. put her on a nest with egg and leave her locked for a day and she may continue to sit it or take egg and in couple days she should break her broodyness
