Ok ordered chicks What does the blue dot mean??

I picked up some left over ordered chicks from feed store. I got one that is a Lakenvelder , It has a blue spot on his head does that mean anything?

Chicks on pre order may be marked to identify sex. Whether this indicates that you have a pullet or cockerel?

Oops, never thought about the significance of the blue color. Hope they ran out of pink magic markers that lot.

It is more likely to mark different breeds that look a lot alike. If you can find out what hatchery they are from, you could write and ask.

Some feed stores order just pullets. Some feed stores order straight run. Genders are not marked on straight run, and there is no reason to mark genders on an order of pullets. That's why I suspect it is to mark different breeds.

Or they could be males. When I had males in my lot, I told them to mark it. Sure enough, blue markers for the boys!
