This is our second batch. Last time, we set 28, 21 made it to lockdown and 19 hatched. 6 needed help and were really slow the first (second) day...but, they made it. The whole process had its ups and downs. This time, we set 38 and 36 are still in! Lockdown is in the morning! They came out of the turner yesterday and the air cells look really good. Will crank up the humidity tomorrow and lower the temp and away we go! These are not spoken for so what will I do with 30+ ducklings?????! UGH! The next batch due in 10 days after this group are spoken for. Anyone else?

I didnt write down the date of eggs put in the incubator AGAIN!! - and when candling earlier today- I saw a beak in an airsac...so I guess I may be hatching on that day too now. I have Indian Runners- and only 6- 7 of them. 36 WOW!! I did 40 over 4 weeks in January- but I cant hatch so many all at one time due to limited space. You sure will have your hands full.

which color runners are you doing? THEY are so CUTE! I don't know what I will do with them! The farm that had ordered wants the next batch, but, declined this middle batch..Ruh ROH! Flyers around town here we come! I heard PEEPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO CUTE!!!!!!!! How do you "see the beak in the air sac"? I candle lots and haven't figured that out yet. The only thing I did see differently last night was a weird shadow in the air sac....was that it?

Sounds like that weird shadow you saw was the beak in the airsac.. I woke this morning to find a second egg pipped and the first one is just starting to unzip.. I have 8 two week old ducklings here already - waiting for easter to be over and also to grow enough to be 100% correct in sex - I have tried vent sexing- but I want to make sure absolutely as the lady already has one of my drakes. I dont like to hold on to too many this time of year as we are heading into winter - but I rarely have issues finding homes for my birds. I have Harlequin Indian Runners- so being a very rare colour as well helps. Im sure with a few flyers around- or even a notice on craigslist you will be able to rehome them quickly.
