Ok, So I need help With prego bunny - First timer *HELP post 25**

Baby rabbits' digestive systems are just getting going, shifting over from an all-milk diet to a rabbits' normal high-fiber, low-carbohydrate diet. The gut flora are just getting established, and the whole business is easily upset. Baby rabbits should have pellets, hay, and water - nothing else, with the possible exception of a little bit of plain ol' dry rolled oats. Anything else could give them diarrhea.

it's not good for there stomach's. they can Die from eating greens too early .

We let our bunnies run in grass when they were 7wks, they were fine. Just remember that when the bunnies start emerging from the nestbox, take out all greens. Don't worry if they wander out before they're 3wks...ours were escaping to find milk before they opened their eyes! Also, when they are ready to start eating solid food, believe me, they will. Ours were drinking from the water bottle and eating from the food dish at 3wks!

Grass is fine for them. Vegetables are not. and yes you should worry if they wander out before they are ready to come out of the nest box. I have had a few escapees die from doing that. You want to try to put them in something they can't climb out of.

OK HELP!

My doe has pulled ALOT of fur . I came home to it all tightly packed in a corner of the cage - but as far as I know she was only bred a week and a half ago , COuld this be a false pregnancy????

It's her first time. She's just being a good momma and trying to have a nest all ready. It's a pretty clear sign that she is pregnant. There would be little to no drive to nest if she wasn't pregnant.

Okay, I am not trying to scare you BUT my Netherland Dwarf got pregnant accidently by my Rex. I thought she had false pregnancy because I was not sure if she was or not. She pulled out hair and made a nest early on. Yesterday I look in and she had one really big baby and it was not alive. I did research and found that this can happen almost 50% of the time for first time mother bunnies. I do not even know how she had that baby. The online source says that one or two big babies are born dead because they are squeezed out of such a tiny space. Says to rebreed immediately for a smaller litter which is more likely the second time around. I am NOT going to breed because I did not want her to have babies anyway. I just wanted to forewarn you because I was not prepared for this and it was pretty sad. Hope noone has this happen but at least we know it is not rare and we did something wrong.

Good Luck and I will be watching your post.

Sounds like a false pregnancy. go ahead and give her a nest box just in case.

She has REALLY taken to her igloo, she has made it so he sides on the inside are piled high and their is like a dish in the middle.
We gave her new bedding and made sure she had fresh food anw water. I plan on giving her some hay tommorrow and seeing what she does with it. Will the nest grow larger like a ducks nest? She has a good bit of fur in there already! Its the size of a softball or two.

She is also panting a bit, is this normal? My sister says she keeps stretching out and panting semi heavily. We are keeping a good eye on her and have put the fence across the door to keep the dogs out.
