I have a partial box of Grape Nuts cereal that my sister-in-law gave me to feed the chickens. She gave it to me because it is due to expire soon and wasn't as fresh anymore as she likes it.

I know the little pieces swell up in milk, so I was wondering if it's ok to feed to the chickens. Like, it won't swell up inside them or anything will it?

I thought about maybe mixing it in with some nonfat yogurt, but also feeding it to them dry sometimes.

It's probably OK but some years back, my dad got some grape nuts to eat, didn't like 'em, put them out for the squirrels and the squirrels didn't even eat them.

It’s just flour and grain like any other cereal. There are no grape seeds in it. I don't think there is very much sugar in it either. It won’t hurt em.

I agree. Give it to them.

They love them. When I have just a little bit of cereal left in a couple of boxes, I mix it all together and give it to the chickens. I avoid the sugary stuff though.
